How to Spend Your Fourth of July Weekend in Long Beach

Nothing says it is officially summer like Fourth of July weekend. We may be a bit biased, but Long Beach is one of the best cities you can spend your summer holiday in and with endless events, parties, and bbqs, we’re sure you’ll agree. So whether you’re from out of town or a local, here is your complete guide to spending Fourth of July in the LBC.

Friday – June 30th

Kick off your holiday weekend off by enjoining a FREE live show at Shenanigan’s. With waterfront views from the patio, we’re sure you’ll be feeling that summer buzz.

Saturday – July 1st

What could be more fun then spending your Saturday at a beach filled with Corgis?! Luckily, this weekend is the Southern California Corgi Beach Day. The celebration will include a couple of Independence Day activities like a patriotic Corgi costume contest and a 4th of July pie-eating contest. Other highlights include the Bubble Pavilion featuring bacon- and chicken-flavored bubbles; free pawdicures and Corgi tattoos; a Corgi talent contest; a Corgi limbo contest; and a best momo (Corgi butt) contest. All dogs are allowed to come to the beach day!

Sunday – July 2nd

On Sunday, catch the second day as Pirates invade the Shoreline Aquatic Park. Come see the largest gathering of Pirates on the West Coast and enjoy
a living history event with swordfights, black powder demos, and real pirate ship attacks.

Monday – July 3rd

Ballast Point will be holding a pre-Independence Day Party where you and your friends can enjoy unbeatable views of the fireworks. Includes dinner and drinks.

Or you can beat the crowds and enjoy an early fireworks celebration on the waters of Long Beach Harbor. Observe the awe-inspiring firework displays performed in Alamitos Bay at 9 pm.

Tuesday – July 4th

If you aren’t tired out by the weekend, you can enjoy an All-American Fourth of July at the Queen Mary. The celebration includes live entertainment, family games, arts & crafts, historic tours, a patriotic theatrical movie in the Queen Mary Theatre and a very special performance by The Pointer Sisters!
