A ‘Spirited’ Halloween: Spooky Cocktails to Set the Mood

Who says Halloween is just for kids? Adults can have just as much fun on Halloween with a little creative bartending. Whether you’re celebrating at home, having a socially distanced party, or going virtual for your Halloween festivities this year, there’s a special liquid treat screaming out for you. So, skip the candy and head straight for the cocktails with these spooky spirits!

The Poisoned Apple
Mirror, mirror on the wall, what’s the juiciest cocktail of them all? 

  • Amaretto
  • Laphroaig Scotch
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Apple Cider
  • Peychaud’s Bitters
  • Ice

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour into your glass of choice.  

This green grasshopper cocktail is sure to bring a little life to the party. 

  • Ice
  • 25 ml crème de menthe
  • 25 ml white crème de cacao
  • 25 ml single cream
  • Mint sprig
  • 25 g melted dark chocolate 

Prepare your garnish by stripping the mint spring of any leaves at the base and leaving just the leaves at the top. Dip the stalk in the melted dark chocolate. Let set on a plate.

Shake the other ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the mint sprig.

In Cold Blood
This beet juice cocktail will really get your blood moving. Makes 6 servings. 

  • 1 cup raw grated beet root
  • Juice of 8 lemons
  • 1 cup golden castor sugar 
  • 300 ml Aperol
  • 700 ml prosecco
  • ice

Make a beetroot “lemonade” by stirring together the beets, lemon juice, and sugar until dissolved. Steep in the fridge for at least one hour, stirring occasionally.

To make the cocktail, pour 25 ml of the lemonade into each glass, top with 50 ml of Aperol, and a few ice cubes. Top with prosecco and enjoy!
